JUMEIRAH ISLANDS VILLA
The house was newly renovated, but it was missing the last layer of art and objects to make it feel more like a home.
The family engaged us to curate art and objects throughout, a process that went deeper than accessorising. Two of my own paintings were acquired for the home, alongside a commissioned textile work, macro photography, and a three-dimensional sculptural wall piece by international artists. Selected together, the works function as a set.
The ground floor shelving was reworked entirely. Books were chosen to reflect the family’s interests: their love of travel, wine, food, the places they've been. A complete Tintin collection sits alongside Dr. Seuss on the lower shelf, the father's childhood passion passed quietly to his young sons. Woven baskets tuck underneath to keep the everyday chaos of small children contained but considered. Objects throughout were selected to speak to the books and the stories around them.
Every object in it was chosen for this family, this home, this life. Nothing in it could belong to anyone else.
