MELODY VILLA

Melody is our own home. A living, breathing space that evolves as we do. Think of it as my playground; this page will keep changing as the house does, so check back every now and again.

When we moved in, the first order of business was the flooring. The blingy faux-marble tiles on the ground floor, the yellowish basement finish, the outdoor surfaces: all of it had to go. Microcement went down and everything immediately felt calmer. That was the starting point.

The layout is unusual. More compartmentalised than what I was used to, which took some adjusting, but what I've come to love is how each level has found its own rhythm. The ground floor for living and gathering. The basement became a den for film nights and a vintage bar for aperitivos. The top floor, our studios. The skylight that cuts through all floors, pulling soft filtered light into every level, was what drew us to the house in the first place.

My husband's a musician, a thinker, interested in astronomy, psychology, and politics. Before we met, he had no interest in interiors; now he notices details he never knew existed. I'm an artist building a practice alongside running Inhabitat, always drawn to beauty and creative expression. We've both lived across multiple countries and carry those experiences here. A custom black metal shelving unit holds our books and brings in an urban edge. A linen sofa you melt into. My own paintings alongside pieces collected on travels or owned long before we met.

Melody is still unfolding. This home holds our rhythm, our interests, and our stories.
